Adass and PSDeXchange to showcase social care apps
An online platform working with the Association of Directors of Adult Social Care (Adass) has called for developers and owners of care apps to provide details for an online showcase aimed at social care users and commissioners.
Adass has flagged up the role of the Public Service Digital eXchange (PSDeXchange) in its Care Apps Showcase and conference to be held in Birmingham next March. The showcase is already available to enable social care commissioners and app developers to find each other.
PSDeXchange identified three main categories for the apps. The first is for supporting personal independence, and for people to stay in their own homes for longer – a key goal of social care policy.
The second is for supporting wellbeing, which encourage healthy lifestyles. The third involves apps commissioned by professional and institutional users, for purposes such as linking people with care needs to commercial or voluntary providers of these services.
Home Office builds digital service to support refugees
The digital team in the Home Office has developed a case working service to support the resettlement of Syrian refugees in the UK. A blogpost says that users are now able to process cases digitally by integrating data from the UN with the department’s existing systems. This makes it possible to prioritise case and analyse trends across the programme.
It adds that in time it will be possible to use the data to make matches to accommodation offers and services from local authorities, and that the service can be scaled up and adapted for other resettlement operations, including children at risk.
Poole Hospital kicks off £1.25 million Xerox deal
Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has begun the first stages of implementing a five-year, £1.25 million contract with Xerox for managed print services. The company said it is aimed at providing annual savings of up to £200,000 for the trust.
Installation of Xerox’s FollowMe solution took place in July as part of a streamlining of the trust’s print infrastructure. Over 180 underutilised printers were removed and 430 were replaced.
Xerox has also worked with the trust to manage its print room processes, specifically online ordering of print requirements, better quality of finish, reduce print costs, electronic invoicing and higher speed printing.
