Single web page designed to give service design teams easy access to resources
The Government Digital Service (GDS) has published a Service Toolkit to provide public sector teams with quick access to resources when building services.
It involves a single web page with links to a number of relevant resources, such as the Digital Service Standard, Technology Code of Practice, Digital Marketplace and the GOV.UK Prototype kit. It also leads to the design and build services in open data format: GOV.UK Notify, Pay, Verify and Platform as a Service, along with the registers in the government data infrastructure.
A blogpost from GDS says the toolkit has been launched in response to feedback from service design teams using its resources. This has highlighted that they need to find guidance easily, to ensure their work is consistent with that of other public services, and need to best way to solve a problem without duplicating others’ work.
The launch follows the recent publication of the Service Manual to help teams build services in line with the Digital Service Standard and prepare for service assessments. GDS recently announced that a permanent team is to be set up to handle regular updates of the manual.
